Fairmined is an assurance label administered by the Alliance for Responsible Mining, a body established in 2004 and based in Envigado, Colombia, that certifies gold and associated precious metals from artisanal and small-scale mining organisations. Certification is granted against requirements covering traceability, social and economic development, conflict mitigation, environmental protection and labour conditions. Audits are carried out by external, independent certification bodies rather than by ARM itself; SCS Global Services is one such approved body.
