How gold moves from the ground to a buyer: mine sites and producers, the traders and refiners between them, the manufacturers at the end, and the financiers behind the assets. Gold circles are places, rose squares are organisations, teal diamonds are schemes and registers, violet triangles are events; a glow marks an entry the chain runs through. Click any entry to pull in everything it touches, including the countries and governance bodies that sit outside this layer.

This connected view answers what a list cannot: how the pieces hang together, where the chain is dense and where it thins to nothing.

What this map does and does not cover

The map draws what the Hub holds as it stands. Where that is thin, the map is thin, and it says so here rather than letting a full-looking picture imply otherwise.

146Mine to refiner: the links are thin, and mostly at country grain

Public sources name who refines gold and who finances mines far more often than it names who sold ore to whom. Most custody links the Hub holds run from a refiner or trader to a country of origin, not to a named mine, because that is how public sources describe them. The board draws exactly what the sources state; the gaps are the crawl programme’s standing target, and naming them is worth more than filling them with thin claims.

Entries reach a country when a relationship the Hub holds puts them there. A handful reach one through a single further step, such as a title reaching a country by way of the site it covers. Those are counted separately below, because a placement worked out in two steps is not the same as one a source states outright. Read through one further step: 297. Placed in no country at all: 214.

Where two active claims disagree on the same point, both are drawn, each keeping its own source, and the hub picks no winner and blends nothing. Contested links are marked on the group pages.
