ProfileThe Directorate of Geological Survey and Mines (DGSM) is Uganda's mining regulator, created under the Mining and Minerals Act, 2022. Per s.19 it regulates minerals and mining through its Department of Geological Survey, Department of Mines and Department of Geothermal Resources; s.20 establishes within it a Mining Cadastre Department "to administer mineral rights and maintain the cadastral registers." DGSM also runs a Mineral Protection Force enforcing the Act. It sits under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, at Plot 21-29, Johnstone Road. The hub cites its online Mineral Dealer / Refining Licence register as its source for Uganda's licensed gold dealers, exporters and refiners — a listing confirms a licence was granted, not that sourcing is currently compliant.Single source
