SourceGhana Gold Board (GoldBod) — About Us (goldbod.gov.gh)Origingold-hubObserved2026-09Asserted2026-09-07

ProfileThe Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) is, in its own words, "the sole authority with exclusive right to buy, sell, weigh, grade, assay, value and export gold and other precious minerals in Ghana," a body corporate established by the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), assented 2 April 2025, under Ministry of Finance oversight. Per s.78 it took over the rights, assets, liabilities and workforce of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), itself descended from the 1963 Ghana Diamond Marketing Board through four prior statutory name-changes. GoldBod combines regulator and state-buyer functions — it licenses aggregators and exporters and itself buys/exports gold, ending PMMC's role as the Bank of Ghana's buying agent. The hub cites its licence registry and press releases naming licensed traders; a licence entry records regulatory approval, not verified sourcing practice.Single source
